Perks of a private workshop: personalised attention and in-depth guidance!

1-2 people | 2.5 hours | €180 total

What can you expect from a private workshop? With a choice of either handbuilding or learning how to use the pottery wheel, the greatest perk of a private workshop is that you will have more one-on-one quality time with your teacher. You will have all the time and space you need to ask questions, to have certain steps explained in more depth, and to customise your workshop experience. If you have a specific goal in mind, please share this with your teacher beforehand.  We will begin by providing you with the fundamentals on the clay process as well as the basic techniques for handbuilding or using the wheel. We will also go over some general studio safety rules at the start and inform you about what you can expect from the workshop. Towards the end you will clean your tools and workstation.  It is always good to look up some inspiration online. At the beginning of the workshop we will go through some of the ideas and manage your expectations based on time and skill. We try to make sure that everyone has at least one finished piece by the end of the process.  During the workshop you will work on the first part of the clay process; moulding the clay. As the other steps require some drying time, firings and other elements, these cannot be done within one single workshop. Not to worry, your teacher will make sure your piece is dry, fired and glazed.  Glaze is the final “coating” to your piece. For workshops we offer 3 options. Unfortunately, selecting more than three glaze options is not feasible due to factors such as availability and other considerations. If you wish to glaze yourself, please let us know beforehand and a two-part workshop can be planned. Keep in mind that at least 3 weeks of drying time between workshops needs to be planned.  What should I bring or wear? Clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty - no worries, everything can easily be washed out, but it is better not to wear your favourite clothes! Please also bring either an apron or a small towel. It is also advisable to put longer hair in a ponytail or hair clip and to cut your nails.

CORPORATE WORKSHOP

It is always good to do something fun and creative with your colleagues. A clay workshop can complement a day out, or offer some time to relax between meetings. As your day is probably already jam-packed with to-do’s we offer a “light” version of our workshops. Ideal for groups up to 30 people, held either on-site in Utrecht or at our studio, enjoy 1.5 hours of hands-on clay crafting. Don't worry - you do not have to be creative or crafty. Our experienced teachers will ensure succes. Choose from making cups, dishes, or vases, personalised options are  available too. We handle setup, materials, and logistics, ensuring a seamless experience

Up to 30 people | 1.5 hours | €60 p.p.

What to expect? We can host the workshop at your desired location (within Utrecht) or in our studio. On location we arrive approximately 30 minutes before the workshop as we need about 15-30 minutes to set up. We bring the tools, clay and other materials. On location, we only offer handbuilding workshops as the pottery wheel is a bit too heavy for us to carry! If you wish to host the workshop outside of Utrecht, please contact us so we can discuss the possibilities. During the workshop we explain the basic process of clay, teach general techniques and walk everyone through the steps. As it can be quite challenging to coordinate and help a large group we like to determine beforehand what everyone will be making. You can choose to make a cup, dish or small vase. If you have a specific idea, please feel free to share this beforehand so that we can organise ourselves, properly advise you, and make it happen! Once the workshop is finished we will bring all the pieces to our studio and let them dry. Afterwards, we will fire and glaze them - ‘to glaze’ meaning to add the final “coating” to your piece. For workshops we offer a standard glazing option. If you wish to pick a different glaze or want to offer two glaze options, we can do so for an extra €30 total. The process of drying and glazing can take up to 8 weeks (largely depending on the weather and size of the group). Once the pieces are done, we will reach out. Although it is possible for everyone to pick up their pieces individually, we strongly prefer that all pieces are picked up at once. If you wish for your pieces to be dropped off at your office (within Utrecht) please do let us know - the extra Cargoroo costs (electric bike) for delivery will simply be added to your invoice. What to bring/wear It is advisable to bring clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty - there’s no need to worry too much, as everything can easily be washed out. Please also bring either an apron or a small towel. It is also advisable to put longer hair in a ponytail or hair clip, and to cut your nails. It is also nice to ask people to look up some examples beforehand; it makes the starting process easier. What if the activity is a surprise? How fun! In general, everything stays relatively clean while handbuilding. We always bring a couple of towels that people can use to keep clean. So there is no need to spoil the surprise by asking people to bring certain clothes. Additionally, we also bring some examples so people have an idea on what to expect and lose relatively little time coming up with ideas. In our studio All of the above information applies to our studio location as well. The only exception being that we ask you to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled time so we can get you settled (with some drinks and snacks) and start on time. Suitable for kids (10+) and adults.
