Silvana Hurtado Dianderas

Hii! I'm Silvana, a Peruvian visual artist based in Utrecht. In my artistic practice, I mostly focus on sculpture and interactive installations that engage the spectator.
As an artist, I enjoy experimenting with different materials depending on the concept I have in mind. My native language is Spanish, I'm also fluent in English and have a good level of Dutch.

A bit about me:
I enjoy meeting new people, and when I visit new places, I make it a point to explore contemporary art environments. Whenever possible, I escape to the beach and the sea – they're my go-to happy places in nature.

In my classes,  my objective is to guide students toward learning. I encourage them to embrace mistakes, let go of any fear of making them, and enjoy the learning process. I value the opportunity to experiment with and introduce students to new techniques. If a student has a particular curiosity, we explore and learn together. I also appreciate the importance of learning while having fun and being passionate about what you do. When it comes to ceramics, my specialty lies in handbuilding and sculpture. I enjoy combining these techniques with clay throwing on the wheel. Music and laughter are always a part of my classes.

Daniela Schoorl

Hello! I'm Daniela, a Mexican-Dutch self-taught artist in Utrecht. I've always been immersed in creative activities and love exploring different mediums like photography, painting, and ceramics. Each medium ignites a unique creative spark, deepening my passion for my work every day.

A bit about me:

I enjoy Zumba classes in front of my TV and occasionally do line-dance workouts. I dislike cheese but make an exception for melted yellow cheese on pizza. Though reluctantly, I admit I like Taylor Swift. My favorite movie is 10 Things I Hate About You, and my favorite color changes every season. A nice pen or acrylic marker makes me very happy.

In my classes, I focus on my students' wishes and goals, encouraging creativity and offering guidance as needed. Whether you're ambitious or need some direction, I'm here to help.

Hello! I'm Yael, a digital experience designer by day, but my creative heart belongs to the world of clay.

Ever since I was young, I've been drawn to arts and crafts, and ceramics offer a true way for me to unwind and reconnect.

A bit about me:

Outside the studio, you will find me doodling in my sketchbook, finding joy in nature and always up for a good cup of coffee.

In our ceramics class, we'll get on a journey together – transforming humble clay into beautiful and functional vessels and art pieces. We'll learn essential techniques, but more importantly, we'll explore the joy of creation and embrace the freedom that comes from letting go of perfectionism. This is a class for anyone who wants to get their hands dirty, have fun, and discover the magic of ceramics!

Hi! I am  Henriëtte,  a 28-year-old potter based in Utrecht. Over the past three years, I have attended various ceramic workshops alongside my studies in History and Museum Studies.

A bit about me:

Last year, I decided to devote more time to pottery and focus on developing this craft.Japanese ceramics and Jugendstil patterns and pottery fascinate me the most. Japanese ceramics often combine elegance and ruggedness, which I adore. I'm particularly fond of the small feet! Jugendstil vases inspire me with their smooth, organic forms and nature-based decorations. In my pottery, I strive to incorporate this elegance, ruggedness, and organic style.I find wheel throwing the most captivating aspect of ceramics. It puts me in a meditative state, and I love how the rhythm of the wheel and my body shape the clay, almost like a dance.

Carving feet and figures into my pottery is another aspect I thoroughly enjoy. My goal is to learn how to throw larger amounts of clay to create impressive big pots, providing me with ample space to carve intricate designs. I would love to teach you the basics of wheel throwing and glazing, and share my passion for pottery with you!
